Notes |
- Name given as "Frances L." at the age of four months on the 1855 State Census of New York for Cayuga Co.
From Sue Ricketson, correspondent, note of December 9th, 2003 I would like to inform you that I have located the1884 NY (I believe City) marriage license of Emma Lillian Sprague born, according to your data base, on January 9, 1855) (about 7th or 8th descendant of 01 Francis Sprague) and Charles W Clark. This is a fairly large certificate.
I also have access to three 16x20 portraits on hardback paper that allows them to stand up without folding. There is one for Emma Lillian Sprague (age 28-29); Charles W Clark (age 39); and one of "Uncle Will" on back with the name of person I believe may have owned these pictures (Mrs. E. D. Sprague).
Emma L Sprague's parents according to your data base are Cevastian Burton Sprague (1830-1901) and Elizabeth D Campbell (1830-1901). I believe this Elizabeth D Campell may be the E D Sprague named on the back of "Uncle Will"s picture.
There is also another marriage certificate for Almon C. Chase and Mabel Clark (maybe daughter of Charles and Emma??) dated 1908 Hannibal, NY.
I have no connection with either the Sprague family or the Clark family (as far as I know). I would just like to have these go to some family member who would enjoy having them and can use them as basis of proof. The one picture of "Uncle Will" is deterioting fast, but with careful attention and a frame I think it can be saved for the most part. The others are going to begin deterioting before long.
These pictures and certificates are in an antique shop. I will be glad to get them if anyone wants them, but I will need to know as soon as possible. If my memory serves me correctly, the portraits are 14 dollars apiece (which is high for "Uncle Will" especially, but maybe they'll go down on it.) I think the certificates were 7 or 8 dollars apiece. I would not mind buying them and sending them for what they cost me plus mailing or sending costs if any one is interested.
