W. Harold "Bow" Houser, 91, formerly of Piqua, died Thursday, March 23, 2000 at 8:50 p.m. in Francisan at St. Leonard's of Dayton.
He was born in Piqua on May 14, 1908 to the late Frank W. and Emma J. Bird Houser.
He married Sylvia Mae Ganger Dec. 18, 1937 in Union and she preceded him in death Jan. 21, 1993.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Donald R. and Mary Ann Houser of Dayton, Joseph E. and Sharon Houser of Sidney; two daughters and a son-in-law: Linda and Edward Oda of Spokane, Wash., Suzanne Isenhouer of Piqua; seven grandchildren; one sister: Mrs. Robert (Patricia) Bragg of Piqua.
Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
Mr. Houser was a 1926 graduate of Piqua Central High School and retired in 1974 as an inspector with French Oil Mill Machinery Co. following 41 years of employment.
He was an active member of the Piqua Church of the Brethren where he had served as financial secretary. He was an active member of the Warren Masonic Lodge No. 24 in Piqua for more than 50 years. He was inducted into the Miami County Fast Pitch Hall of Fame in 1985.
A funeral service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Wagstaff officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. in the funeral home.
