  • Notes
    • Jennie was the daughter of Levi Mettler, a carpenter from Mt. Pleasant, Hunterdon Co., New Jersey, and Sarah Ellen Kiphart Mettler. She was known as Jemima at birth and called Jennie Lin as a girl. The family moved to Lambertville, Hunterdon Co., and Jennie lived there for the rest of her life.

She married Moses Burroughs Mathews on Apr. 29, 1875.

Jennie and her husband had a daughter, Ada M., in 1881, and they had one known grandson, Robert M. Smith, who lived with them for most of his childhood.
