    • Obituary notice of Jacob Pruitt in The Democrat, Huntsville, Alabama, May 21, 1845: "Died -- At his residence in Walker County, Ala., on the 14st inst., Captain Jacob Pruitt, formerly of this county, after an illness of three days. He was about 80 years of age, every way a pious man, having been a member of the Baptist Church for 30 or 40 years.
