    • NEWARK - Lee D. Barnett, age 77, of Newark , died March 23, 2009 at Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio). Lee was born September 7, 1931 in Leeon, West Virginia to the late William and Georgie (Rhoads) Barnett.

      Lee served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He moved from West Virginia to Newark for employment with Ideal Sanitation Service. Mr. Barnett then started his own business - Barnett Sanitation Service. He owned and operated this company in Newark for over 15 years until he sold the company.

      He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Clela N. Barnett of Newark; son, Clarence Ray Barnett of West Jefferson, OH; daughter, Crystal Jean Barnett of W.V.; one sister, Florey DeVault of Barberton, OH; numerous grandchildren; and several close neighbors.

      In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers; and one sister.

      Memorial contributions may be made to Leukemia Society, 2225 Citygate Dr. #-E Columbus, OH 43219 or Hospice of Central Ohio 2269 Cherry Valley Rd, Newark, OH 43055.

      The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark. No calling hours or services will be held at his request.
