Notes - Nancy married Robert Clovis SMITH, son of James S. SMITH. Robert was born 1 Jun 1810 in NC. He died 13 Mar 1884 in Lincoln Co., TN and was buried in Smith Cemetery, Lincoln Co., TN.
The last line in James S. Smith's estate settlement reads: Amount retained my own share as of this date Sept. 23, 1867: $100.00. My own here refers to the amount reported to court by the administrator [Robert C. Smith].
It was Margaret Kennedy Smith, wife of Bill Smith, that told Imogean McDonald about the Smith/Whitt connection. I can't remember exactly what she said but it was something to the effect that Sarah Smith Whitt, wife of Ephraim, was the aunt of Milton Smith. Milton was a son of Robert Clovis and was the grandfather of Mr. Azzie Smith. -- That would make Sarah a sister to Robert Clovis.
