Located 10 miles east of Fayetteville near Swan Creek. During the war Federal raiders stripped the farm of its animals and food and burned the family's dwelling.

Enrolled 29 April 1861 at Fayetteville, Lincoln County, Tennessee. Wounded at Seven Pines, Virginia 31 May 1862 by a minie ball entering his side and lodging in his lung. Discharged 28 October 1862 by reason of resignation.
After the war, besides practicing medicine, Pleasant Halbert used tenant labor to farm 170 acres of the Halbert Ares Farm to raise livestock and produce crops of corn and cotton.
Note: The Halbert Cemetery is located about 9.7 miles east of Fayettesville on Swan Creek Road and is across the road from the old Halbert Farm. Very badly overgrown and neglected. UPDATE: The Martin family (descendants of the Halberts) cleaned it up.
