Will of Jehue Meadors, Sr., 1808 - Cumberland Co. VA

I, Jehue Meadors Sen: of the County of Cumberland do make & publish this my last will and
testament. I give to my daughter, Frances Meadors, one negroe man by the name of Harry to her
and her heirs forever. I give to my granddaughter Mary Boatright my negroe girl by the name of
Corsey and should my granddaughter die ? leaving issue of her body it is my will that the said
negroe Corsey and her issue shall return to my estate & be equally divided among my six children
or their heirs (to wit) Anne Robinson, Patty Anderson, Sally Boatright, Joseph Meadors, Jehue
Meadors and Frances Meadors. I give to my grandson Jehue Meadors, the son of Jonas Meador the
sum of sixty pounds to be raised from my estate for the purpose of educating him. It is my
will that the rest of my estate consisting of Dicke, Suke, Hannah, Old Delphia, my stock of
cattle, horses, hogs, sheep, plantation utencils, & the interest I have in the negroes I bought
of my son Jonas which he held in the right of his wife Polly who was Polly Robinson, be equally
divided among my six children (to wit) Anne Robinson, Polly Anderson, Sally Boatright, Jehue
Meadors, Joseph Meadors, & Franky Meadors, subjecting the said estate first to the payment of
such debts as may be proper to be paid & the legacy of sixty pounds which is left to my
grandson Juhue Meadors the son of Jonas. Lastly, I appoint my friends, Richard Anderson,
Willis Wilson & John Hatcher my executors. As Witness my hand and seal this 10th of February
1808.

At a court held for Cumberland County the 26th day of Sept 1808, This last will and testament
of Jehue Meadors decd was exhibited in court and proved by Willis Wilson and Jn M. Hudgins two
of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of Richard Anderson one
of the executors therein named in the said will a probate thereof is granted him in due form he
having entered into bond and security according to law.
