    ERNEST MANN IS SUICIDE VICTIM Despondency Over Death of Son Leads to Tragic End

    Despondency and grief ove the loss of a son in a traffic accident on Woodlawn Avenue is given at the cause for the suicide of Ernest Mann, aged 45, at 9:30 o'clock Wednesday morning at the family home on Limestone Street.

    Mann was found by his wife in a semi-conscious condition, a bottle of poison at his side. A physician failed to revive the victim and death followed soon afterwards. Coroner G. B. Trout returning a suicide verdict.

    He was an employee of the Weller pottery and had not worked steadily of late. He brooded almost continually over the death of his son, Edward on Jan. 8, 1930, under a truck on Woodlawn Avenue and had been in a despondent mood for the past few days, relatives say.

    Surviving are his widow and one son, Basil, twin-brother of the accident victim, at home; five sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Prince, Stafford; Mrs. Edward McAtee and Mrs. Floyd Parrett, Cambridge; Mrs. Ernest Thompson and Mrs. Milo King of Berne. Mann had moved here from Noble county about 20 years ago. Funeral services are incomplete. Keck in charge.

    Funeral services for Ernest Mann of Limestone Street, will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the C. A. Keck home, South Seventh Street. Interment will be made in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the home until time for the last rites.

    9-YEAR-OLD BOY CRUSHED BENEATH WHEELS OF TRUCK

    Denzil Edward Mann, 9-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Mann of Limestone Street, Putnam Hill, was fatally injured Wednesday afternoon when run over by a truck of the Ohio Bell Telephone company, driven by John Larrick, 38, of Lucy Avenue.

    He died at Good Samaritan Hospital where he was rushed in the Keck ambulance following the accident, which occured on Woodlawn Avenue. He had dashed into the street directly in front of the truck, it was said. The wheels passed over his body and his chest was crushed. His skull was also found to be fractured.

    Larrick, with his companion, Bernard Walker, of 802 Elm Street, were the only witnesses of the tragic accident. The former reported to police at once.

    The child was a first grade pupil at Madison School. Surviving are the parents and a twin brother, Basil.

    The body was removed to the C. A. Keck funeral home, South Seventh Street.

    BASIL E. MANN, 73

    Zanesville- Basil Edmund Mann, 73, of 108 East King St., South Zanesville, died at 4:30 am Thursday, June 23, 1994, at Good Samaritan Hospital after an eight week illness.

    Born Jan 24, 1921, in Zanesville, Mr. Mann retired from Owens Brockway Glass after 25 years of service. He was a member of Washington Township Baptist Church, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was a World War II veteran.

    He is survived by his wife, Mary Lucille Meighen Mann, whom he married July 2, 1947.

    He was preceeded in death by his parents, Ernest and Blanche Parkinson Mann, and a brother, Denzil E. Mann.

    Graveside services will be at 11 am Monday, June 27, 1994, at Washington Township Baptist Cemetery, with Pastor Richard McNeish officiating.
