    E. E. "Pete" Wentz, 92 of Camden, AR formerly of White Hall, AR passed away Monday, June 03, 2013. He was born March 23, 1921 in Crossett, AR to Milton H. and Mattie Lou Harris Wentz. He was a Marine veteran. Wentz's three year Marine career took him to San Diego, New Zealand, Hawaii, Saipan, Okinawa and Nagasaki. While anchored off Okinawa, Wentz's ship was hit by a kamikaze plane. "I was standing topside in the chow line watching the shelling of the island, all of a sudden, guys started hitting the deck. It didn't take long to realize that something was happening," Wentz said. Just before coming stateside, Wentz was sent to Nagasaki, just 45 days after the bombing. "When it was time for us to ship out, a band on the dock played "California Here I come," and it sure sounded good," said Wentz. "But I really didn't think I'd make it. I never let myself believe that I was going home. So many guys would be all set to go home and then disappointed when it didn't go through." After returning home he returned to the job at the Dr. Pepper Bottling Plant which he had held before his enlistment. He worked at the bottling plant until 1950. In 1953 he became employed at the Pine Bluff Arsenal as a sign painter. He was a member of Salem MBC in Watson Chapel, AR, active member of Jefferson County Gun Club, American Legion Post #232 and Amateur Trap Shooting Association.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton & Mattie Lou Harris Wentz; daughter, Mary Lou Clay; brother, John Wentz; and sisters, Isabelle Wentz and Margaret Wentz.

    He is survived by his wife, Mary Wentz of White Hall, AR; daughters, Sandra McKenzie and husband, Robert of White Hall, AR and Sharri Germann and husband, Doug of Camden, AR; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

    A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, June 06, 2013 at Upchurch Cemetery in Saline County. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Born August 8, 1924 in Ausable,MI. a daughter of the late Milton Henry Wentz and Mattie Lou Harris Wentz she was retired from A.T. & T. and a member of Lifeline Baptist Church in Mablevale, AR. Also, preceding her in death was a brother John Wentz. Survivors are 1 brother E.E. "Pete" Wentz and spouse Teny of White Hall, AR. Several nieces and nephews. Graveside services 10:00 a.m. Thursday April 26, Oakland Cemetery in Warren, AR. by Frazer's Funeral Home. Visitation 9:15 a.m. until service time Thursday at Frazer's.
